The rains have just started. There is an earthly smell in the air. Everything outside looks cleaner and greener. The rainy season calls for a hot cup of tea and some spicy snacks to go with it. Another thing to go along on a rainy day would be a mystery novel. While cleaning an old shelf I came across a small book, a novel by the name of Little Angie by author Emma cave. So I sat down and started reading. I finished the book by evening. There was something about the book that kept me hooked through out. One may feel the story to be a usual one in the initial chapters but as the chapters go on, it becomes more exciting and hard to keep down. The story of a naive woman and the strangers that come to her life and change her to what one may call lonely soul. A true psychological thriller and those who love a story that makes you want to read it again and again, I suggest you read this book.

Nighty Night
It was first the first day at my new home. It started with a busy morning, packing and unpacking things several times. My bedroom happened to be upstairs and I had this tedious job of carrying my things from one floor to another. It was evening by the time I finished unpacking and finally settled down at my new home. As I entered into my new bedroom, I wondered whether I will be able to sleep as well as before. I don't know whether it was mere exhaustion or something else all I remembered was falling into bed and the next thing I remembered was waking up to the sound of alarm. It was 8am. So I did sleep well and all those thoughts didn't make any sense anymore.

Mindplay
Have you ever felt someone/something watching you while you are sleeping? I have felt it several times mostly at night. When I enter my room I felt somebody or say some shadow standing near the cupboard. I look again there is nothing there. Once I tuck myself under the covers I don't fall asleep that fast. I keep thinking about the days happenings, what he said, what she said and so on. Once I fall asleep I feel someone pushing me or nudging me and I start to shiver. When this happens all weird images come in front of my eyes. I start seeing some of the ugliest and horrendous faces enough to scare you to death. I have felt my bed covers moving or being moved. I have tried to unravel the mystery several times. Day time there isn't much happening but as night falls all the creepiest feelings start to come out. I try to get it out of my head but still the fear remains there. What is the actual trouble? The truth is your own mind is playing games with you. It is merely linking your thoughts to one another and making you see things that aren't there...

Lilly Folly
One tries to build a little garden around ones' home. You start by planting all kinds of trees and lastly why not a little Lilly pond at the front yard to attract mosquitoes and frogs. You start by reading the instructions for having a Lilly pond, collect muddy soil, collect the plant and so on. Once everything is done you wait to watch your plant flower. weeks pass by, months pass by. There is no change to your plant. In fact it has lost some of its leaves to the weather. You watch your plant die slowly. You give up hope and start growing water hyacinth in the pond. One day you step outside go for an evening walk and see a muddy river, orange in colour. And you look closely and see something else too. A water Lilly in full bloom, healthy and Can it get any bigger??? No... Can be this be called as one of the jokes nature plays on you.. do not try to replicate everything present in the nature???

Mosquito Mutation
Thanks to the poor management of waste and pollution, the city is seeing an increase in the number of mosquitoes and houseflies. One cannot keep the doors open for more than a sec if so you can see a swarm of flies entering from nowhere. They are real pest, trust me. And evenings were once considered the time of mosquitoes reign but now the situation has changed. Mosquitoes are present 24 X 7. As years passing one can see some changes in these mosquitoes. They are genetically changing. They are adapting to new environment at a faster pace and are immune to most repellents. They are now bigger, uglier and more nosier. Their bites no longer itch but rather have a piercing pain similar to the one you get while taking a dot. Their bites have a burning sensation and the bump caused by their bites are bigger and last longer often causing allergic reactions. If this is the case with mosquitoes the days are not far away when we humans too will start mutating to uglier forms of life.

Festive Feista
There is celebration in the air. Preparation for Navaratri is on full swing. Temples and Roads are adorned with floral laces. There is aroma of incense and jasmine all around. Soft music is playing in the background from temples. The devotees are in busy preparing for the festival. Small colorful stalls have been set up outside these temples. There is balloonwala's, banglewala's. Sadly the number of stalls are decreasing with the passage of every year. Fewer stalls show up during the festive occasions. There has been a slow drift from the traditional way of things happening during festive occasions. People are changing, their attitude is changing, We are changing....

Myna Mystery
Today on my way to office, I happened to see a strange sight. I was sitting by the window seat in the bus. Outside was a once empty ground now turned into a dumping ground. Heaps and heaps of waste everywhere. Someone had lit a fire somewhere because of the stench coming out. People came and left flinging bags of waste there and not at all bothered if someone is watching them or not. So coming to the scene, all these years I believed that crow was the only bird that lived on garbage. Today I saw a group of Myna's pecking on these wastes which had all kinds of matter in them.Strange I thought. A bird like Myna having to strive on these waste. What is happening? Where have the old Mynas gone?

Tortoise Torn Apart
Today started with a bad kick. Morning as I was walking through our street I saw a black mass lying some ten feet from me. The air was filled with a powerful stench of something rotting. As I came face to face with object rather the black mass, I was in a shock. To my horror The black mass was the body of a tortoise that has been badly run over by passing vehicles. It was lying dead, torn apart and in pretty bad condition. I wonder how a tortoise came into such a scene an who brought it or dropped it????

Wheeler Dealers
Today as I was traveling with my family in our car, I started observing the passing by cars and two wheelers. It was strange to see that in most of these two wheelers and four wheelers, only the drivers' seat was occupied. For one person alone, the vehicle is being used. It is waste of fuel. When we are already facing a crisis in fuel consumption I don't think single passenger travel is a good idea. I think people ought to start using public transport system. The buses could be in better shape and condition and their shortage should be corrected so that one doesn't get to see people hanging from the railings like apes hanging from trees.

The Corner Seat...
In
my office in my room there is a corner seat. The first day I joined it was
empty. Second day it had an occupant. She preferred the corner seat because it
covered her from all sides. It was her territory. She was happy. The corner seat indeed covered
her. She hid behind it from the eyes of outsider. And one day she was gone. She
left the office never to return. The corner seat was empty again. I looked at
corner seat temping me to sit. But I looked away. Soon came another girl. She chose
the corner seat. The proud corner seat
had yet another occupant. Days passed by all bright and right. Then one day she
left without a sigh. The corner seat was empty yet again. What is the mystery
behind the history of the corner seat???
Humanity Exists
Today as I walked past a street a heard a commotion behind me. I saw a man about 40 lying next to a motorbike He seems to have lost his balance. Two gentlemen came from nowhere and helped him and his bike to stand. I was touched by their act of kindness. It was hard to believe that humanity has not been lost completely. There is still hope. Nature still has faith in her children and she hopes that they will not let her down.

Dreary Dream
The most beautiful thing about waking up for me is to wake up from a beautiful dream. It so happens that today's dream has shaken me up a little. I cannot get my mind of it. Something about the character and the situation makes me feel insecure. The dream was some kind of warning of the forthcoming of something big or bad. . You are ready to put your life at risk, trusting your partner and when you turn back they are gone POOF!!!! I tried going back to sleep to get the reason for such a act(silly I know) and I was unable to.
