The Tamarind tree

Meet the tamarind tree
Standing tall, stout and free
Older and wiser by the year
Nothing can make him fear
He is hard from the outside
But soft and gentle inside
He is lonely but not alone
He has none to call his own
When the lights begin to dim
The tiny birds perch on him
He is their home, their hope
Tying them together like rope
He silently awaits for someone
All he does is smile at the sun
