Urban Harvest: #13

“What?”
......................................................
I plunged the scalpel into his aorta. He looked at me in horror.
“Debbie...” the poor thing could not even complete his sentence.
He was already on the floor writhing in pain.
“I am sorry Williams. I am not going to let you have this, whatever that is growing inside of me. I am sorry.”
........................................................
I left him bleeding on the floor. I ran for the exit. I could hear the siren. The entire facility getting quarantined with all the personnel inside.
I make it to the open just in time and I reach for the boat.  I hear the blast from the far end and another and one more. It was over. The Hive was gone for good.
.......................................................
Two thousand miles away from home, I stand facing the evening sun with a protruding belly. The beach indeed has a therapeutic effect.
Now that I know whatever is growing inside me understands me and will protect me, I am no longer afraid.
And by the way pregnancy does make you queasy.
.......................................................
“Can you refill my glass...Amy?”
“Here you go.”
“Thank you.”
“It’s going to be cold soon. Do you want me to get you a shawl?”
“Sure honey, get me the blue one,”
“Okay.”

I just couldn’t leave her behind. She was all I could think of. We sit back and enjoy our mocktails as Hades Corporation desperately tries to figure out what went wrong.
.........................................The End.................................................
