Urban Harvest: #12

“You have successfully impregnated a vessel and achieved what you wanted.”
“None of the vessels were successful Debbie.”
“What? But these reports are....”
“Yes, they are true. It’s you Debbie. You are the host.”
 “No, this can’t be. No.”
“Don’t you remember honey?”
..............................................................................
It all came back to me like a flood. The light, the tank and the pain.
“You don’t know how happy I am for us. Your body turned out to be the perfect vessel for it to attach. Don’t you see honey? You were here for a reason. Didn’t I always tell you that?” William explained to me.
..............................................................................
“You carry a genetically enhanced being. Just imagine, once it’s born we can harvest a dozen of its kind from its DNA and your blood. We could rule the whole of planet earth,” he declared.
..............................................................................
I get up and try to stand on my feet. The news was too much. The room was moving. Everything was rotating. I tried to hold on to the chair but caught only air. I wanted to get out as soon as possible.
I observed him carefully as he walked to the door. I knew that time was running out but suppressed the urge to check my watch. I took a deep breath and started counting in reverse under my breath.
"Ten, nine, eight, seven..."
..............................................................................
I moved towards him and looked at him deeply.
He wrapped his arms around me.

“One,” I said softly.
