“I knew it.”
“It has successfully attached to the host. Everything is in
sync sir.”
“How are her vitals?”
“Her vitals are very much stable sir.”
“Okay, keep me updated with the lab reports,” William
replied calmly.

What was ‘it’ and what who was it attached to? Was it Amy?
Was she still alive? I needed answers. I tried to get up in vain.
..................................................................................
My eyes, they opened. Everything was blurry. There was
nobody besides a sleeping nurse. I tried to remove my cannula. My fingers hurt.
I tried to reach for the table and dropped the tray waking the nurse.
She saw me and immediately buzzed for help. She tried to
restrain me. I felt too weak to fight her back.
Will was by my side in no time.

“Amy,” those were the first words that came out of my mouth.
He assured me she was fine and was recovering in the
adjacent room.
“Show me,” I demanded.
..................................................................................
After three painful hours, I was wheeled into another room
adjoined to mine. Amy was recovering. She looked pale but better. I breathed a
sigh of relief.
He caressed my face.
..................................................................................
“It’s okay. Everything is fine.”
“I need out of this gown.”
“You don’t plan to run, do you?”
I look at him disgusted.
“Just kidding Deb. You will find your belongings on your way
back.”
